Rooted in the Lakes Region
Don Giguere was born and raised in the Belmont–Laconia area. Growing up here gave him a lasting appreciation for New Hampshire’s communities, public schools, lakes, mountains, and changing seasons.
After graduating from Syracuse University, Don built a long career in hospitality, beginning with local experience at Steele Hill Resort. His career later took him to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas before returning home to New Hampshire.
Service, art, and veterans
Don later served veterans at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, first as a Licensed Nursing Assistant and then through recreation programs and community activities. He combined that work with his lifelong love of art, offering painting activities and helping display veterans’ artwork and photographs throughout the Home.
Don also accompanied veterans on outings throughout New Hampshire and helped initiate the creation of Veterans Home floats for local Old Home Day parades.
Service in the community
After retiring from the Veterans Home, Don worked with Easterseals New Hampshire, helping adults participate more fully in community life while giving caregivers needed respite.
Don has lived in Tilton for more than two decades. Away from work, his connection to New Hampshire has also found expression through hiking, golf, sled dog racing, and landscape painting.
From helping campaigns to becoming a candidate
For approximately twenty-five years, Don helped Democratic candidates through local meetings, phone calls, door-knocking, signs, and Election Day work. Earlier in life, he chose to support others while building his career.
Now retired, Don has the time to step forward himself. He is running to bring a lifetime of service to Concord and to be a stronger voice for public schools, local taxpayers, veterans, and the communities of Belmont, Sanbornton, and Tilton.
